L-Ornithine
L-ornithine is a growth hormone releasing amino acid.
The following doses are recommended for healthy male adults:
100 to 140 pounds (45-63 kg) 12 capsules
140 to 200 pounds (63-90 kg) 18 capsules
over 200 pounds (>90 kg) 24 capsules
For healthy female non-pregnant, non-lactating adults:
under 120 pounds (<54 kg) 6 capsules
120 to 180 pounds (54-81 kg) 12 capsules
over 180 pounds (>81 kg) 18 capsules
Start with about 25% of your target quantity and increase it gradually over a period of a few days to minimize the occurrence of minor side effects such as nausea. When taking growth hormone releasing amino acids such as ornithine, it is recommended to take one to three grams choline and one to two grams pantothenic acid, vitamin B5.

Dosage and Use
As a dietary supplement, take one capsule daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. For best results, take on an empty stomach before bedtime.
Caution
Diabetics and borderline diabetics must use with care. Arginine might improve or worsen a diabetic condition.
Persons who have not completed their long bone growth (children and teenagers) should NOT use except under a physician's supervision. (This also applies to pregnant or lactating women.)
Arginine and ornithine sometimes reactivate latent herpes virus infections, so persons who have ever had ocular or brain herpes must not use either of these.
Certain psychotics may experience worsened symptoms if they take arginine or ornithine supplements.
